MSME Databank launched; salient features you need to know

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has launched the MSME Databank alongside Online Finance Facilitation Web Portal at the 14th National Board for MSME Meeting in New Delhi on August 11. The portals aim to provide collective funding options for MSMEs sourced from major financial institutions.

The move to go online will help save money as the previous census conducted in 2008 cost Rs 50 crore, whereas this one is expected to be completed in just around Rs 1 crore”, MSME Secretary K K Jalan had told media.

The MSME databank portal and finance facilitation portal are part of the Digital India initiative and will facilitate ease of doing business in the country. The online databank is expected to cut down on the costs and efforts put in conducting census physically.

MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra said the portals will enable MSME units and their various association to furnish data easily and they could be a “one-stop source of information on small enterprises, including their credit and technology requirements as well as raw material and marketing needs.”

Finance Facilitation Centres (FFC)

National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) proposes to setup FFCs at Jalandhar, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Guwahati & Lucknow in the first phase.
