The four-month-old firm which was co-founded by former chief technology officer of now defunct Stayzilla, Pankaj Gupta, becomes the first Indian firm to be acquired by Google and the latest AI start-up to be snapped by a technology giant after a spate of similar acquisitions by firms such as Microsoft, Facebook, Apple among others.
“Excited to share that the Halli Labs team is joining Google,” tweeted Gupta to which Google’s VP (Product Management) Caesar Sengupta responded with a warm welcome into the team.
Halli Labs was founded with the goal of applying modern AI and ML techniques to old problems and domains — in order to help technology enable people to do whatever it is that they want to do, easier and better.
Even in the monotonically increasing long arc of technology, there sometimes appear non-linear discontinuities apparently out of nowhere. Halli Labs have a deep belief in AI, ML and NLP in general and deep learning is particular.
“Today, we are thrilled to share the news that the Halli Labs team is joining Google. What better place than Google to help us achieve this goal. We couldn’t be more excited!” read the blog.
