Amazon’s tatkal service for SMBs

Amazon has introduced Amazon Tatkal, an initiative aimed at transforming the way SMBs sell their products online.

Rohit Kulkarni, Senior Manager (New Initiatives), Amazon India, said discussions with SMBs revealed high level of interest in getting online, but perception barriers of the process and complexity in getting to the online marketplace put them off.

“Interested sellers said they had put off on-boarding tasks because of such misconception. We worked backwards from seller needs and conceptualised Amazon Tatkal,” he said.

This one-stop shop on the go would enable SMBs to get online and sell on Amazon.in in less than a minute, Kulkarni said.

Amazon Tatkal is a specially designed studio-on-wheels offering a suite of launch services including registration, imaging and cataloguing service as well as basic seller training mechanisms, he said, adding, “Tatkal would be stationed at Townhall and Ukkadam today, cover other parts of the city such as DB Road in Rs. Puram and Cross Cut Road on March 17 before moving to Gandhipuram and Peelamedu on Friday.

It will traverse across the country, visit seller-dense pockets, engage with entrepreneurs, artisans, manufacturers, sellers and others and help them sell online on the spot.”

Company representatives will explain to sellers the benefits of selling online, introduce them to specialised seller services offered by the company including innovations like Easy Ship, Fulfilment by Amazon as well as Global Selling and launch interested sellers on the Amazon platform, Kulkarni continued.

He added that the company launched its Global Selling Program for sellers in India in May last and has at present over 6,000 sellers selling their ‘Make in India’ products on Amazon’s nine global marketplaces to over 304 million active customers worldwide.
