Irani has invested an undisclosed amount in the angel investment round enabled by Kwan Entertainment. The round also saw participation from Dhruv Chitgopekar, Partner, Kwan Entertainment, and Prantik Dasgupta.
Rooter, available for both Android and Apple’s iOS devices, offers sports fans a chance to connect across real and virtual worlds. The mobile-based platform takes sporting interactions beyond generic social media platforms by allowing fans to connect through pre-match quizzes and chats, live match prediction games and post-match interactions in order to share their insights, predictions, analysis and opinions.
“This is my first investment, but as I see it, this is something I enjoy,” Irani told. The Founder of the company, Piyush Kumar, had approached him with the idea of promoting Rooter, but he liked the idea and decided to support the venture, he said.
“I loved the product. It connects my love and enthusiasm for sports and quizzes. I don’t believe in just investing until I am not excited about something,” he added.
Rooter was founded by sports enthusiasts Piyush Kumar (CEO) and Soham Sinha (CTO) to bridge the gap in the sports fan engagement market through a tech product.
Launched on June with Euro 2016, the platform has already added cricket, football and tennis to its folio. Kumar said the funds raised from angel investors will be used to strengthen the technology team at Rooter as well as to create strategic partnerships with various sports platforms, teams, fan clubs and associations.
