Coming soon: India’s first International Mentoring Summit to sow seeds of entrepreneurship

With an aim to support employability initiatives in the country and encourage youth to take up entrepreneurship, BYST (Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust), a not for profit organization dedicated to empower underprivileged youth, is gearing up to organize India’s first International Mentoring Summit. The event that will celebrate mentorship and discuss its impact on the various sectors will also mark BYST’s glorious 25 years of foundation in the country. Based on the theme ‘Mentoring Grassroots Entrepreneurs in Smart Grams for Inclusive Growth’, the summit will be held in association with the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

With the inaugural on the 5th of April 2017 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, International Mentoring Summit will comprise a day-long conference to be addressed and attended by reputed dignitaries and ministers, including Venkaiah Naidu, Minister of Urban Development, Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Railways, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to name a few. The event will also bring together other industry veterans and BYST’s entrepreneurs and mentors from different fields, to share their views towards one common goal of achieving sustainable employability. The Honorable President of India, Pranab Mukherjee will be the chief guest at the occasion. Expert Mentors from around 14 countries will also attend the event

Ahead of the event, Lakshmi V Venkatesan, Founder and Managing trustee, Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust, said “As an organization, BYST has always aimed to intensify its operations across the country and empower the underprivileged youth through mentorship and guidance. It gives me immense pleasure that we have covered a long journey of 25 years where we have touched the lives of so many, and created fine examples of successful enterprises. But there are many more milestones to cover. With the Mentoring summit, the aim is to popularize mentoring as a potent tool for entrepreneurship and support initiatives like Startup and Skill India with a new movement of ‘Mentoring India’. We are honored to collaborate with Rashtrapati Bhavan in this cause and hopeful that mentoring will soon be embedded in our policies guiding more and more youth to the right path.”

To raise awareness and sow the seeds of entrepreneurship amongst the youth on a large scale in Gurugram, BYST Launched the unique – “Business Idea Contest” in the Smart Gram villages adopted by Rastrapati Bhavan. The top three ideas will be awarded cash prizes and certificates during the event. Recognizing the efforts of the entrepreneurs, BYST will also felicitate the top performers on the occasion. The prizes will be handed over to them by the Honorable President of India himself. To complement the Delhi edition and gather momentum around mentoring, the summit will also go to other regions such as Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and come back to New Delhi for closure. Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust has also aligned with Perfect Relations, an image management and communication firm, as their communication partner.

The International Mentoring Summit will be divided in 6 parts: –

• Opening plenary on Setting a National Agenda for Youth Entrepreneurship for Inclusive Growth
• Session I: Gurukul Diaries: In conversation with a Mentor
• Session II: Promoting ‘Smart Grampreneurs’
• Special Session on “Entrepreneurship: How it can power Urban Development”
• Session III: ‘Guftgu’ – A freewheeling dialogue on Mentoring
• Special Plenary with Hon’ble President of India
