DR. Sangam Kurade re – elected FISME president for 2016-17

The Central Executive Committee of Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) has unanimously re-elected Dr. Sangam Kurade as President for the year 2016-17 during the executive meeting held in New Delhi on March 15.

A reputed food technologist and the promoter of a successful business unit based in Goa- Zuari Foods and Farms Pvt Ltd, Dr. Kurade is   President, FISME since 2015.

A PhD in Food Technology from the University of Tennessee, USA, Dr. Kurade is a frontline innovator in agri-food industry, particularly in farming exotic varieties of mushrooms.  For his successful innovations he was conferred ICAR’s Mushroom Grower Award-2014 also.

During his past one year tenure as head of FISME, the leading federation of MSMEs in India reached newer heights of achievements; to mention a few, collaborate with IFC World Bank to develop a new paradigm in credit facilitation to MSMEs, partnering with Commonwealth Secretariat to link Indian MSMEs with global value chains and working on a concept of BRICS SME forum, with MSME association of BRICS countries.

Besides his long association with industry bodies such as FISME, GIA and Goa Chamber of Commerce, he has been associated with National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), all agro- food processing state institutions and committees set up by Government of Goa and also Bureau of Indian Standards Committee for Foods & Spices, Govt. of India as Member.
