Govt will set up centres of excellence to propel India with digital high growth: Ravi Shankar Prasad

On the opening day of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2017, Law and Justice, Information Technology Minister of India, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government has decided to set up new centers of excellence in emerging technologies like blockchain, data science and analytics, augmented or virtual reality, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

He also said that the government shall soon bring up policy on electronics, IoT, Software products, e-Commerce and Cloud with proper interaction with stakeholders. And these will be done with great initiative to propel India with digital high growth.

According to the minister, one centre is established in Bangalore. The government has decided to keep three centres- the other two include Gurgaon and Visakhapatnam.

“We are aware about privacy concerns in digital age. We have to have a balance among availability, utility, innovation, anonymity and privacy of data,” he added.

The minister wanted to spread a message through the IMC that India’s digital economy is a model to the rest of the world. “Let this IMC2017 send a message to the world that India’s digital economy powered by innovation, initiative and enterprise is model for the rest of the world,” Prasad said.
