Guwahati buckles up to give entrepreneurial boost to women with exclusive hub

Guwahati is all set to establish a Women Entrepreneurs Hub to exclusively cater the products made by women in the city, said Assam Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary during valedictory programme cum exhibition on ‘Traditional Jewellery Designing and Making, Block Printing and Lifestyle Products’ organised by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE ) on August 29.

Patowary urged women entrepreneurs to focus on innovation and quality to compete in national and international markets, while retaining the traditional motifs. He lauded the efforts of the exhibitors in crafting exquisite products and designs.

The Minister asked department officials to rope in professional experts to impart training on fine quality commodities.

Furthering to the Industry Minister’s appeal, Additional Chief Secretary Ravi Capoor informed that the department has so far trained around 500 women in candle-making, natural dye, jute and water hyacinth weaving, and would extend all help to set up their own enterprises.
