Kalraj Mishra launches MyKassia app & Kannada MSME Data Bank

Giving a further push to Digital India initiative, Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra launched MyKassia mobile app and MSME Data Bank (Kannada) at an event organised by Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) at Bengaluru on May 16.

The launched data bank features various outlooks of the MSME industry in Karnataka, and is published in Kannada language. The state is home to various MSMEs and holds immense opportunities in aerospace, defense, agro-food processing, automobile, auto-components, biotech etc.

“The importance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and their contributions to India’s economic and social development cannot be underestimated. MSME Ministry has brought transparency in its functioning and most of the plans are online. There is MyMSME mobile app of the Ministry for all the MSMEs in India”, said Mishra while addressing the gathering.

MSMEs, alongwith KVIC and Coir, are the largest employer after agriculture. Recently MSMEs have shown a constant growth at the rate of 10 per cent, which is more than the large corporate sector, the Minister informed.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of bringing up India as a manufacturing hub, and that of obtaining a double-digit GDP growth can be achieved only when the country’s MSMEs are promoted”, said Mishra.

Mishra also informed that more than 3 million industries have filed under Udyog Aadhar Memorandum till now since September 8, 2015.

MSMEs contribute to about 37 per cent in GDP, 33 per cent in manufacturing, and 45 per cent in exports of India. The sector employs more than 11 million people through 5 crore plus enterprises.
