Karnataka may soon develop a Women Entrepreneur Park with support of MSME Ministry

The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) and District Industries Centre (DIC) have proposed to setup a Women Entrepreneur Park in Thandavapura region, and awaiting approval of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), an official aware of the project said.

Spread across a 45 acres land, the park is likely to primarily accommodate industries such as textile garments, food and fruit, wooden furniture, steel furniture, electronic goods, and drinking water packaging plants. IT and software units will also be installed in it.

The units will be split into different sizes, based upon the type and requirement of the MSME. As many as 135 plus enterprises have already put-in requests to set up and develop their units within the park. The official was bullish that the number is likely to soar given the humongous interest shown by women entrepreneurs in the project.

As per the information gathered from the official, a development report of the entrepreneurship park has been detailed by the two state industrial bodies and submitted to the MSME Ministry for financial support in build-up and development of the project.

Apart from the Union Ministry, KIADB and IDC have also approached Karnataka State Financial Corporation for funding support in a bid to boost women entrepreneurs.
