Kings Learning, an online start-up that provides internationally certified spoken and business English courses based in Bengaluru, has raised $2.5 million in funding from Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, along with other American-based tech investors.

Founded in 2014, the company enhances employability through effective Business communication and workplace skills and also prepares students to get ready for the IELTS with their internationally renowned course.

According to a source, Kings Learning co-founder and CEO Arshan Vakil said, “We are excited to partner our investors as we move into the next phase of growth which will primarily be focused on scaling up our offerings like Enguru, strengthening technology and analytics engine and expanding the Kings Learning team,”

“English has become a ticket to enter the booming knowledge-driven job economy of India, however, few have access to quality English language training,” said Michael & Susan Dell Foundation Education Director India, Prachi Windlass.

Michael & Susan Dell Foundation started their office in India in 2006 in order to foster high-quality education and improve family economic stability among India’s urban poor. The company has invested more than Rs1,100 crore in non-profits and social enterprises in the country.

Their goal, over the next five years, is to support the creation of more than $1 billion in annual income for urban, under-served families through aspirational jobs for youth, technology-enabled livelihood, and access to financial products.
