The programme, inaugurated in Guwahati by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on April 11, focusses on providing entrepreneurs with new digital resources, insights and stimulus to build and grow their businesses online.
“The priority of this government is to work towards a better Assam and programmes like ‘Skill India’, ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’ will be fast tracked to empower youth and entrepreneurs,” said Sonowal.
“Here, Facebook’s campaign will complement our programmes and provide Assam’s entrepreneurs, artisans and craftsmen with global visibility, which will ultimately help them to grow their business.”
Ritesh Mehta, Head of Programs for Facebook India, said, “Small businesses are critical to economic growth and employment. Facebook is invested in helping these small businesses connect with their customers at scale and grow their businesses and locally and globally.”
He said, “We believe our ‘Boost Your Business’ programme will empower local businesses by providing training and resources to build up a digital presence, reach new customers and grow their businesses beyond what the traditional offline economies will allow for.”
According to Facebook, India is a priority country for the country and the ‘Boost Your Business’ programme is a part of its continued investment in Indian small businesses, developers and the over 180 million Indians who use Facebook every month.
Since 2015, the nationwide programme has visited 21 cities across nine states in India.
