Manipur CM urges youth to go beyond white-collar & think start-ups

Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh has urged the unemployed youth of the state to look beyond white-collar jobs and ignite the spirit of being ‘job creators’ rather than ‘job seekers’ to bring about a spur in employment generation and improve the region’s economy.

“We shouldn’t only have a commercial or profit-oriented view, but also need to work towards the welfare and prosperity of the state,” said the Chief Minister while addressing a launch event of Romi Showrooms at Kwakeithel in Imphal.

The CM informed that his government would introduce policies and programmes to encourage local entrepreneurs. Skill development programmes are also in place to develop employment opportunities amongst the unemployed.

He also urged banks to encourage state’s start-ups alongside other local ventures by way of financial assistance.

Singh assured that the state government is government is ready to help, encourage and promote the local entrepreneurs in every aspect.

The government of North-Eastern State of Manipur has earmarked a budget of Rs 35 crore under the Startup India initiative to encourage local entrepreneurial spirit. The ambitious Startup India campaign of the Centre launched under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is striving to improve states’ economies and make them self-reliant.
