Manish Kumar appointed MD & CEO of NSDC. Jayant Krishna be to ED & COO

The National Skill Development Corporation, (NSDC), a one of its kind Public Private Partnership in India, under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, today announced the appointment of two key executives in its leadership team. Manish Kumar will be joining NSDC as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Jayant Krishna will take up the new role of the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at NSDC effective July 1, 2016.

The selection committee chose the leadership based on merit and with an aim to bring together the combined strength of two professionals, one hailing from the government sector with an added experience in the developments sector and the other from the private sector. The key executives were selected from a list of 900 applicants. The selection committee went through a rigorous process and was supported by PeopleStrong before finalizing the 2 names.

Speaking on the appointments, S. Ramadorai, Chairman, NSDC said, “NSDC is a PPP and a vital part of the ecosystem to create skill development capacity for meeting industry needs. The leadership team that is coming in, brings rich experience in government and private sector. The Prime Minister has set an ambitious goal on Skilling India with allocation of funds. Policies and frameworks are in place. Now is the time for execution and with this team at the helm I am confident we will reach our goals. 

Manish Kumar, (IAS 1991 batch) comes to the helm of NSDC with over 24 years of rich experience of spread across various roles with national and international Institutions including Secretary to Government of Tripura – Power & Home Departments, Senior Water and Sanitation Specialist, UNICEF and Senior Institutional Development Specialist and Country Coordinator, Water & Sanitation Program at the World Bank. Mr. Jayant Krishna has an overall industry experience of more than 29 years and has worked with TCS and handled various key positions. He has been actively working with India’s skill development sector for over 5 years through Industry fora.

The National Skill Development Corporation, (NSDC) is one of its kind, public-private partnership in India, which aims to promote skill development by catalyzing the creation of large scale sustainable businesses by involving the private sector in the vocational training space. NSDC aims to create capacity in terms of large and quality vocational training institutions; fund entities interested to operate in the skill development business and create an enabling environment for stakeholders in the ecosystem.
