MSME-DI Srinagar organises ZED Certification awareness prog for MSMEs

An awareness programme on the Government of India sponsored Zero Defect, Zero Effect (ZED) Certification System for MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) was organised on July 17, by The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (MSMEDI) Srinagar.

The programme enlightened dozens of Srinagar-based entrepreneurs about the ZED scheme and how it benefits the MSMEs sector.

Throwing light on the benefits of the ZED Certification System, Assistant Director MSME DI Srinagar said that the system offers a credible recognition of the industry, streamlined operations and lower costs, superior quality, reduced rejection and higher revenues, increased environmental consciousness besides additional employment generation, according to the press release.

He added the model, which is applicable to all sectors of manufacturing industries and focuses on MSMEs and small businesses, will address the quality and ecological needs of customers, society, employees, partners, regulators and investors.

Manager DI Srinagar, while speaking on the occasion, urged the entrepreneurs to avail existing central schemes and adopt new technologies to continue to be relevant in the fast-changing industrial scenario in the country.

The awareness programme also included sessions on the mandatory Central Udyog Aadhaar Registration and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. Commercial Tax Officer, S Sahran, who was also present on the occasion, explained the nuances of the new tax system and how it will impact the industrial growth in the State.

The programme was also attended by Deputy Manager, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), who threw light on the role of EESL, a GoI venture set up to facilitate the implementation of energy efficiency projects, and its schemes concerning the use of energy efficient technologies by MSMEs.

President BAMK Industrial Association also attended the programme.
