New technology centers to be set up in 15 states

At least 15 new technology centers will be set up across the country under the Technology Centre Systems Programme, Minister of State, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Giriraj Singh, said in the Rajya Sabha on March 3.

The programme is being implemented by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to provide technological support to the micro, small and medium industries in the country.

The new centres will come up in Andhra Pradesh (Pudi, District Vishakhapatnam), Arunachal Pradesh (Itanagar), Chattisgarh (Borai, Durg District), Haryana (Rohtak), Himachal Pradesh (Baddi, District Solan), Jammu and Kashmir (Dwindling, District Kathua), Karnataka (Bengaluru), Kerala (Angamaly, Ernakulam), Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal), Manipur (Imphal), Puducherry, Rajasthan (Bhiwadi, District Alwar), UP(Greater Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar District, NTC Mill (Kanpur)), Uttrakhand (Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar District).

The new centres will be set-up in states in which there is no MSME Technology Centre at present and the remaining places have been identified on need basis and response from state governments. The centres will be set up during the implementation period of six years commencing January 2015, the minister added.

At present there are 18 technology centres in 18 states across the country.
