Rs. 3000 crores for development of MSME sector | Kalraj Mishra

Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra has said that out of Rs. 3000 crore allocation to his Ministry, more than Rs. 1100 crore will be used for generating employment for more than 4,25,000 persons under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

He also stated that Rs. 130 crore has been allocated to Khadi and Village Industries Commission. It is expected that Khadi production will cross a record Rs. 1300 crore during 2016-17, creating employment for more than 19 lakh persons and Village Industries will cross Rs. 45,000 crore.

A sum of Rs. 43.56 crore has been provided for the Coir Board increasing coir production to more than 5.5 lakh metric tonnes and employment for more than 7.25 lakh persons.

Mishra stated that all time high amount of Rs. 200 crore has been provided for Performance and Credit Rating Scheme so that these units are facilitated access to credit.

He lauded the efforts of National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) which is expected to provide credit support of Rs. 8,000 crore and raw material support of 11 lakh metric tonnes to the MSMEs.

He stated that Development Commissioner (MSME) will mainly concentrate on increasing competitiveness of the MSEs through Lean Manufacturing, Technology Upgradation, improving quality management standards and providing skill through Tool Rooms and technology centres.

While interacting with the media, Mishra also lauded the efforts by National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME) which will organise special programmes for strengthening the capabilities of personnel working in DICs as well as MSME associations.

He stated that Mahatama Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialisation (MGIRI), Wardha would continue to provide easy solutions for rural-based industries.

One of the main programmes will also be setting up of 15 new technology centres at the cost of Rs. 2200 crore with the help of World Bank assistance, existing Tool Rooms will make around 2 lakh youth employed every year.

He stated that MSME Testing Centres will perform 2,50,000 tests for benefit of 15 thousand MSMEs and other units.
