The Startup India Hub was launched on June 19, 2017 by Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman alongwith Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Secretary Ramesh Abhishek as a one of its kind online platform for all stakeholders of the start-up ecosystem in India, including start-ups, investors, mentors, incubators, accelerators, aspiring entrepreneurs, service providers and government bodies.
Stressing over the importance of bringing all stakeholders on a single platform, Sitharaman had appealed for a dynamic engagement on the platform. The appeal seems to have struck the right cords with the start-up ecosystem.
India today stands as the third largest start-up ecosystem in the world, with an average of 3-4 start-ups springing up daily. To support such a massive network, Startup India Hub is developed under the government’s flagship ‘Startup India’ initiative. The platform will help create each start-up’s individual story and likely to boost the ecosystem in turn through interactions with relevant participants.
The Hub is hosted under Invest India – the national investment promotion and facilitation agency of India that also hosts the ‘Make in India’ campaign. Invest India is a not-for-profit company and is promoted by Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, State Governments, NASSCOM, CII and FICCI.
