UP Deputy CM pitches for SC/ST & WomePreneurs to trigger ‘multi-dimensional development’

Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya has expressed the need to create more opportunities for women entrepreneurs with a multi-dimensional approach for their development and promotion. He said that campaigns like Standup Women and Standup India can act catalysts in boosting the nation’s economy.

The Deputy CM was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Startup National Conference and Awards Ceremony on Standup India-Standup Women organised by ASSOCHAM on September 18.

“The objective behind Standup Women campaign is to promote entrepreneurship among women, scheduled castes and tribes by enabling them secure easier loans and this could be an engine of job creation for the youth,” said Maurya.

The Deputy CM informed that the scheme envisions transforming lives of Dalit and Tribal community and empowering women across India. Under the scheme, SC/ST and women entrepreneurs would be provided loans from Rs 10 lakh to upto Rs one crore for setting up new enterprises, he added.

“This will help in creating 2.5 lakh entrepreneurs throughout the country as every bank branch will be required to provide two such loans – to a Dalit or SC/ST person and a woman,” said Maurya.

Maurya also informed that under the 2016 launched Standup India scheme, 16,000 plus new enterprises have come up in sectors like food processing, garments and diagnostic centres.
