As a step towards pushing this initiative, the Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Gramudyog department is preparing a distinct logo for the made-in-UP Khadi products to position them as a distinct and exclusive brand.
Apart from brand recognition, the department is also contemplating over engaging with top-level design and fashion institutes pan-India to hand-hold Khadi units in the state and upskill artisans. Training and skilling workshops will be organised for introducing artisans to modern-day technologies, fashion trends and designs to upgrade these units, an official said.
The department plans on hawking made-in-UP Khadi brand online for its global out-reach. In this regard the department is in talks with e-Commerce platforms such as Amazon, who has already evinced interest in this regard, the official informed.
The online presence is likely to liberalise the state’s Khadi units, whom the government will further leverage by way of production-based subsidy.
Meanwhile, the state government would also proactively leverage various schemes of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and facilitate their speedy implementation in the state.
