Union Minister Kalraj Mishra sought for a development oriented year for MSMEs and disclosed the planned distribution and utilisation of the sum of Rs. 3000 crore allocated to the Ministry in the year’s Budget.
Under NMCP, the Ministry has focused on lean manufacturing, technology upgradation, quality certification and support for entrepreneurial and managerial development for SMEs.
Rs. 14 crore has been allocated under the Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme for implementation of Lean Manufacturing Technology in 100 mini clusters. The schme aims at enhancing the manufacturing competitiveness among SMEs by applying lean techniques to identify and eliminate waste in the manufacturing process and thereby streamlining the system.
Rs. 20 crore will be released for Technology Upgradation and Quality Certification Support to MSMEs for 200 production certification and reimbursement of Energy Efficient Technologies (EETs) to be adopted by 150 MSMEs.
Rs. 10 crore has been earmarked in line with Support for Entrepreneurial and Managerial Development of SMEs through Incubators. About 30 host institutes (HI)/business institutes (BI) and 150 incubation ideas will be developed through HI/BI.
For enabling the manufacturing sector to be competitive through Quality Management Standards (QMS) and Quality Technology Tools (QTS), Rs. 8 crore has been allocated. This will be released for organising 100 awareness campaigns, 4 workshops and 1 National Level Workshop of QMS/QTT tool in 10 MSME Clusters and conducting 2 International Study Mission.
