CSR platform Goodera secures $5.5m in Series A from Nexus, Omidyar

Bangalore-based Goodera, a global corporate social responsibility & sustainability management technology platform, has raised $5.5 million in a Series A round from Nexus Venture Partners and Omidyar Network, according to a statement. Varsha Rao, previously head of global operations at Airbnb, also participated in the round along with other prominent angels.

The start-up will use the funds to enhance its technology backbone, deepen domain expertise and acquire more customers, said Abhishek Humbad, Co-Founder and co-CEO of Goodera.

Naren Gupta, Co-Founder & MD of Nexus Venture Partners, has joined the board of the company as a part of the investment. “As billions of dollars flow annually through the global ecosystem of social and community good, an innovative technology platform like Goodera enables corporates to measure and optimize their CSR and sustainability goals in a simple, transparent, and engaging manner,” said Gupta.

Goodera, earlier known as NextGen, was founded in 2014 by BITS-Pilani alumnus Abhishek Humbad and IIM Bangalore alumna. The company enables and empowers corporates to manage their CSR and sustainability goals in a simple, transparent, measurable, and engaging manner through cloud, mobile, voice and big data platform.

“As a technology-focused impact investor, we see the potential of Goodera’s solution and understand the fundamental value such tools can play in transforming the CSR and sustainability sectors,” said Siddharth Nautiyal, investment partner at Omidyar Network.

Goodera claims that 10 per cent of corporate India’s total CSR spend is managed on its platform and 150 large enterprises, including 24 in global Fortune 500, have adopted the platform. It had earlier raised funding from Mumbai Angels and a group of unnamed strategic investors in 2015.
