Democratize Sponsorship Industry says a first time lady entrepreneur

Name any event in Bengaluru, be it a large-scale or small scale, Shatomita S. Ghosh, Founder of Sponsor Source will be in the receipt of the same. A typical Calcutta girl, Shatomita landed up in Bengaluru to explore her career in the media and entertainment industry.

After serving for various brands, she wanted to be on her own and found that sponsorships are always seen as something that lack transparency while burning your hands.

“Unlike European nations, we do not have any professional approach towards sponsorships which had created a huge gap between the potential sponsors and seekers”, says the lady who is also a first generation entrepreneur.

“We started Sponsor Source with the idea of bridging the gap between the event organizers and the enterprises that are willing to sponsor events. First we started operating offline, then on a marketplace model,” she said

After working with few customers, the company felt the real need was not that the enterprises not getting access to the events but getting access to the right events data and analyse them to make a decision was their biggest challenge.

Sponsor Source is on a mission to make the unorganized domain of event-sponsorships, a transparent and data-driven.

“We want to change how the enterprises make their sponsorship decisions, thus making events sponsorships open, transparent, profitable and mainstream for the enterprises of all sizes,” she said.

Shatomita also says that her company is working on a tool that will give minute details and transparent accessibility which makes the work measurable, transparent and democratic.

“The grip is on and now spenders want to measure every penny they spend for. No one thought one can make money by identifying the potential events for the sponsors and the other way round”, she said.

Sponsor Source has handled CeBIT India which is a global brand in technology events and successfully connected them with enterprises and also generated revenues for the event organizer.

The company has closed around Rs. 25 lakh of events sponsorships so far. The journey was not a cake-walk for Shatomita, especially after her decision of becoming an entrepreneur overnight.

“My family was not in favour of my sudden decision. But I thought if I could not leave then, I could not ever come out of the comfort of earning a monthly salary! I did not think. The first website of Sponsor Source was launched on February 2014. Since then, it’s been a roller coaster ride”, she concludes.

“I can get the events of my choice and make informed decision through Sponsor Source. In our last event, we were able to gain many interests and opportunities which we believe was the most successful event for us”, Heurion Consulting, which certificates Sponsor Source, said.
