The New Delhi-based company recorded a turnover of around Rs 325 crore in FY16, said Vij, adding the company is making profits. Carzonrent currently has a fleet of 10,000 vehicles; 2,500 of these being operated as radio cabs by EasyCabs. The company has chalked out aggressive plans to grow its fleet to 75,000-80,000 vehicles over the next 3-4 years. However, the expansion in fleet would primarily be for Myles and for the corporate car rental ventures.
“Self-drive is the next big opportunity for us. Over the next five years, we want to develop Myles as an alternate urban mobility platform. In India, the average utilisation of a personal vehicle stands at around 20%, while globally car sharing is becoming increasingly popular with 10-25 people sharing a single vehicle. With Myles, a consumer need not make a capital investment to own a vehicle. He need not go through the hassle of maintaining, fuelling and then reselling his car,” added Vij.
Myles has a fleet of 1,000 cars across 22 cities as of now. The plan is to offer the service with a fleet of 50,000 vehicles in as many as 50 cities over the next four years. Vij is in talks with investors to raise $20-30 million to fund the planned expansion.
