The award was presented at on November 23, 2015 at New Delhi by Jayant Sinha, minister of state for finance, Government of India. The event, attended by eminent business leaders and senior government officials, also included the release of the publication “Leading SMEs of India 2015”. Sameer Kelkar, executive director at Grind Master represented the company at the award program.
The award selection was based on all round performance and track record of the nominees. Grind Master has been growing at a phenomenal rate in the past few years, closing financial year 2014-15 with a turnover of more than Rs 120 crores. As one of the large machine tool builders in India it qualified in the ‘Mid-Corporate’ category, thus also reflecting the transformation into a professionally managed business, said a company official.
Karur Vysya Bank and Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) launched an awards initiative to recognize and felicitate SMEs who have demonstrated exemplary performance in their respective fields. A rigorous filtering and selection narrowed to 26 awardees from amongst 1, 00,000 plus nominations, he said.
Earlier this year the industry also bagged Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of India Award for outstanding export performance, he added.
