The company which already services over 180 corporate clients in India is betting big on the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as the sector is quite large in the country.
“Today India has close to 50 million SMEs, accounting for nearly 40 per cent of the gross domestic product. We felt that we can aggregate the demand for the SMEs and bring together a product for the sector”, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, India CEO Geeta Jain told PTI.
‘CWT For You’ offers cost saving, convenience, control of spend to the SMEs. It provides essential components of managed travel without certain added services required by larger corporates, she added.
“This has allowed us to give these growing businesses unprecedented access to our global negotiating and buying power along with our products and services”, Jain said.
The travel solution is available both as a mobile app and an online booking tool and there is no transaction fees except when human intervention is required, she added.
“As we do not plan to charge these clients, the money for us comes from the suppliers such as airlines and hotels”, Jain said.
“India features in the top 10 markets globally for the company and is one of the most promising growth markets in the world”, she added.
Carlson Wagonlit Travel services clients in nearly 150 countries globally. The company currently employs over 1,200 people in India.
