Inaugurating the three-day Vibrant SME 2016 Industrial Expo and Growth Forum in Chinchwad on March 3, RB Gupte, the Director of MSME, Union government, said, “It is mandatory under the Public Procurement Policy Act for central government ministries, departments and public sector undertakings to make 20% of their total annual purchase from micro and small enterprises. Of it, 4% has to be procured from MSEs owned by entrepreneurs from SC and ST communities. This has opened a very big market for micro and small enterprises. We are frequently holding programmes between micro and small enterprises to have direct interaction with purchasers. The public sector enterprises are in search of buyers. They want micro and small enterprises as vendors.”
Gupte said, “The union ministry has invited officials of leading public sector undertakings to come to the expo here to interact with the MSMEs as the common man does not know the procurement procedures of these undertakings. HPCL and BPCL officials have confirmed to visit the expo here and interact with the micro and small enterprises. Officials of other big PSUs, too, will be coming to the expo for this purpose.”
Earlier Civic Chief Rajeev Jadhav said, “The civic body provides amenities to citizens as well as industries in the Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation areas. They must utilize them properly. If possible, the industries should beautify roads and chowks in the municipal limits.”
Appasaheb Shinde, the President of Pimpri Chinchwad Chamber of Industries, Commerce, Services and Agriculture complained that PCMC receives Rs 1,100 crore as income from the industries through taxes but spends very little on the development works in the industrial area of the city.
