India to help build skill in Mauritian MSMEs

India will help Mauritius to develop the MSME sector and provide all support for the skill development, Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra said while interacting with Mauritius delegation headed by their Finance Minister Pravind Jugnauth. He said that relationship with Mauritius is a priority of his government.

Mauritius Finance Minister Pravind Jugnauth is currently on a visit to India. Outlining the potential areas like Tourism, Aquaculture for bilateral cooperation Jugnauth said, “We seek India’s assistance to develop handloom and handicraft sectors in Mauritius”, 

Mishra also said that the Ministry will work towards establishing Tool Rooms and Technology Centers to help build skill within people in specific sectors.

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector in Mauritius has “great potential” for skill development and job creation, the Minister said, adding India will provide assistance for this. He directed officials to prepare common issues where both country can work together and enhance the bilateral cooperation.

India and Mauritius had earlier in December 2013 signed an agreement to develop policy and institutional support framework for enhancing knowledge sharing in the field of micro, small and medium enterprises.
