Till date, more than 91,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises from various states have registered themselves on-line, MSME Secretary Anup Pujari told SMEpost.com.
There are over 3.35 crore MSME enterprises in the country. Of which nearly 1.5 crore are small scale industries.
Barring Meghalay and Mizoram, MSME units from all the other states have registered under UAM in the country. One of the reasons for it could be lack of awareness and poor internet connectivity in those two states. As it is the response from North Eastern States and hilly states like Jammu and Kashmir is bit slow.
Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Lakshadweep, Assam, Sikkim and Jammu and Kashmir, have so far registered less than ten units under UAM
The response from Tamil Nadu which has one of the largest number of MSMEs in the country too not that encouraging so far with only 194 Udyog registering under UAM.
Maharashtra topped the list with over 21,100 registrations, followed by Rajasthan with over 13,000 and Gujarat over 12,000. All other states had registration less than 10,000 units.
Of the over 91,000 MSMEs registered, nearly 68,500 were micro enterprises, a little over 22,000 were small scale industries and around 850 were medium enterprises.
