The SME Council has been formed to focus and drive SME specific agenda and issues to help them overcome challenges, increase revenue and global footprint, NASSCOM said in a statement on May 25.
The IT body said, “In current times, when the big players are going through tough time, all eyes are towards SME companies. The next wave of IT will come through these companies only and they have the potential to grow big and need just a little hand-holding and guidance.”
The SME Council will ensure that challenges and issues do not get diluted under those faced by big software companies, the statement said, adding separately issued relating to the SMEs could be taken up with the authorities.
“Our target is to reach out to Tier II and Tier III cities and form city-wise SME groups,” Agarwala said.
