The BEA is one of the partners of industries department for the initiative, which is being pursued as part of the Bihar Startup Policy, 2016.
According to BEA Secertary General Abhishek Singh, the CM has consented to chair the official launch of the initiative, which aims at fostering entrepreneurship skills among youths from grass-roots level and supporting them through seed funds (the initial capital used to start a business).
“The CM on the launch day will hand over seed funds to the tune of Rs 10 lakh to select startups. Bihar will then become the first state to provide seed funds to budding entrepreneurs,” Singh said on October 25.
Senior industries department officials, however, did not confirm the launch date.
Meanwhile, at least 75 proposals were till October 25 received at www.startup.bihar.gov.in, which was launched on October 23. Setting up a website for proposal submission is one of the mandatory provisions under the Bihar Startup Policy, which was approved by state cabinet on September 6.
