Now, a start-up from Mangaluru and an agri web portal have come out with an app — Farmoney — to record and track financial transactions and farm-related activities of farmers.
Mohan Talakalukoppa, founder of KrishiKannada web portal, told BusinessLine that Farmoney is a book-keeping app with 18 sections for documentation.
He said, using the free Android app, farmers can document their activities — crop planning, labour payment, bank and other loans, insurance details, dairying and livestock rearing, rainfall and weather details — in detail. Using these details, the app generates reports helping the farmers analyse and plan better. Farmers can also map their farms on Google Maps and maintain the history of crops, he said.
Talakalukoppa said Farmoney was developed keeping the farmer’s needs in mind.
The mobile app was developed by Mindstack Technologies, a start-up by friends Arun Bhat and Shazad Maved.
Bhat, Chief Executive Officer, Mindstack Technologies, told BusinessLine that the work on the app began eight months ago as the start-up wanted to contribute to the agriculture sector. Its intention was to focus on areas such as agriculture where use of technology is yet to gain momentum. The idea took further shape after a meeting with Talakalukoppa, he said.
