In a move aimed at consolidating its seller marketplace, digital payments and ecommerce platform Paytm has created local language-based services that will help sellers in cataloguing, documentation and loan applications.
While automation and providing end-to-end seller services worked well for marketplaces including Flipkart, which launched its Seller Hub last year, and ShopClues with its Merchant Central programme, providing information to sellers in local languages across functions has been a first with Paytm.
“We are working on all the translation in-house,” said Sudhanshu Gupta, Vice-President of Paytm.
“Sellers can add new products, manage inventory and orders, and get payment details in the regional language app. We have seen about 20% adoption of the regional language app, which is currently available in Hindi and will soon be available in 6 more Indian language,” said Gupta
The marketplace, which claims to work with 1.2 lakh sellers, has tied up with 150 seller services providers to create a centralised system for seller assistance.
The marketplace had also launched its seller app in Hindi earlier this year and has seen 40,000 monthly active users for the interface.
