Keen to encourage entrepreneurship and create viable employment opportunities in the IT sector, Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Limited along with Goa State Innovation Council (GSIC), announced the second edition of the Chief Minister’s startup challenge.
“The top 10 start-ups identified in this challenge will be put through a rigorous training programme at the Technology Business Incubator of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda. These start-ups will be mentored and supported by dedicated technology start-up mentors and will be finally pitching to qualify for seed investment by angel investors,” said EDC Vice-President Santosh Kenkre.
“This competition is aimed at creating new entrepreneurs in the state,” Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said while announcing the competition. Organised by EDC in association with Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, the Chief Minister’s Start-up Challenge 2017, is the state’s attempt at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Goa. Around 40 startups have already registered for the competition this year.
“There is so much scope for innovation as cellular mobiles phones are gradually replacing computers and laptops. The youth of today should take advantage of this, ideate and come out with unique concepts,” EDC Chairman Sidharth Kuncalienkar said.
Last date for submitting entries to the EDC for the competition is January 16, 2017.
The winner will be awarded the ‘Chief Minister’s Start-up Challenge Award – 2017’ along with a cash prize of 5 lakh. The second and third winner will be awarded 2 lakh and 1 lakh respectively.
