Aluminium major Nalco on Tuesday stated that it would soon bring out a focused MSME procurement policy directed at giving a boost to domestic medium and small scale enterprise in Odisha.
The Central PSU procures more than 400 crore worth of goods and services from MSMEs. A focused policy with emphasis on procurement from Odisha-based MSMEs is being finalised and will be put into effect soon, Chairman and Managing Director TK Chand said at the valedictory ceremony of the CII Enterprise Odisha 2015 here.
Nalco in partnership with IDCOL is also setting up an aluminium park for ancillary industries at Angul spanning over 450 acre.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan emphasised on development of downstream industries that will lead to significant job creation.
Chairman CII, Odisha State Council, DSR Ravindra Raju described ‘Enterprise Odisha 2015’ as a platform designed to promote the State in the industrial space. Industry in the eastern part of the country has shown great potential. There is a need to further explore opportunities in the region with special emphasis on the downstream.
There is a need to strengthen the entire support structure – relating to mentoring, financing, quality standards, marketing inputs and technology acquisition for the industry of the region.
More than 100 companies put up stalls in the five-day event drawing more than 50,000 visitors.
