The state-owned National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC), which supplies raw materials to MSMEs, facilitated 7129 units in 2015-16 as against 6450 units in the previous year, an official announcement said.
NSIC, which comes under MSME Ministry, sells raw materials to MSMEs such as iron, steel, paraffin wax, coal, polymer products, copper, zinc, pipes and tubes.
The raw materials are sold at competitive rates with good quality to enhance the competitive capacity of MSMEs.
The Government in the Ministry of MSME is implementing various schemes/programmes in the area of credit, infrastructure development, technology up gradation, marketing assistance, enhancing competitiveness, entrepreneurial and, skill development to promote and develop the MSME sector.
The Government schemes for the promotion of MSMEs include Credit Guarantee Scheme, Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme, Performance and Credit Rating Scheme, Cluster Development Programmes, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Assistance to Training Institution, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP) and Marketing Development Assistance Scheme.
