The government of Kerala has sanctioned Rs 40.01 crore to the Coir Workers’ Welfare Board towards disbursal of pension to workers. As many as 66,000 workers are eligible for pension under the board’s scheme.
Distribution of pension, at the new rate of Rs.1,000 a month, has already commenced. The new rate has come into effect from June. Pension advance for the month of October is also being distributed this month. The pension is being given through banks as well as by means of money orders.
About 4,500 more workers have recently become eligible for pension under the scheme. Their pension would also be distributed at the offices of the board situated in various districts, the board Chairman said.
