SeedstarsSeedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes brought its India round to a successful close during Seedstars Delhi. The event took place this Saturday 13th May at 91Springboard, and 8 selected startups were invited to present their ideas in front of the local jury panel.

The local winner, Vdocipher, a one stop video streaming solution to prevent piracy and smooth delivery of content, was selected the best startup in India for its innovative solution that had great traction. As a part of the prize, Vdocipher will be participating at Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2018, a weeklong training program with the opportunity to meet the other 65 winners, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. Traditionally, the final day of the Summit will be dedicated to pitching in front of audience of 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to the $1 million equity investment.

Shouut, with its service to allow fun, fast and free WiFi across the country by aggregating networks of Telcos and ISP’s, came second and AppsPicket, a usable frictionless 2FA based on public key cryptography, grabbed the last spot in the top 3. The other startups invited to pitch were: Maroon ai, Navia Life Care, Roofpik, Roadcast and Sellacious.

Seedstars Delhi also featured a panel discussion led by BTG Legal on ‘Investing in Startups in India’. The panel brought together distinguished investors and authors who discussed the current state of investment in India, including valuable insight on the legal and regulatory framework for both investors and startups alike. The local Ambassador of Seedstars World, Apoorv Bamba from Startup Safari, organized the event with Seedstars World’s local partner BTG Legal. Further support was provided by 91Springboard, ChaturIdeas, Stepup360 and Young Indians, helping Seedstars attract a wide selection of startups. The event attracted interest from over 75 startup applications, and over 100 people attended.

Continuing on its world tour of startup scenes in emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, Seedstars World’s next stop is Singapore at Marina Bay Sands, to select the best startup in the country. Seedstars World is looking for smart startups that solve regional issues and/or develop profitable products for the global market.
