My Child app, which was co-founded by two 19 year old college dropouts Harsh Songra and Aafreen Ansari to help parents screen developmental disorders, has now upgraded the app to aid in prevention of the disorders.
“Our earlier app version helped parents screen these disorders in 45 seconds what would earlier take 9 years or more. However, that was still a solution for detection since it only screened the child once he was 11 months old and the disorder was already there. Our new version tracks the child right from one month of age and ensures that parents are able to catch the disorder as soon as it surfaces,” said Songra.
The 10 member team, which sits out of the healthcare platform Practo’s office, has also used data from the previous app to considerably improve the present version. “Now, the parents can detect the developmental issue in just 10 seconds,” said Songra. “Our app now provides milestone checkpoints that parents can track against and if a milestone is missed, we provide information on how they could take corrective action.”
The startup had raised a funding of $100,000, led by 500Startups, in January. Songra was praised by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg last year for having created the app. Songra’s personal experience with Dyspraxia, a developmental coordination disorder, led him to build such an app.
