Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Start-up India, Stand up India’ campaign has reached his office. Issues related to hurdles that start-ups face are learnt to have been discussed at a meeting held in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Wednesday.

 The matter came up during the PM’s seventh interaction through Pragati, the seb-linked platform for ‘pro-active governance and timely implementation’.

 In fact, Minister of State for Planning and Defence Rao Interjeet Singh had tweeted on Tuesday that he would be taking up issues faced by start-ups. “Tomorrow, I would be taking up issues which new start-ups face in their formative days at Pragati meeting to be held at @NITIAayog,” he said in his tweets. Later officials said the meeting took place at the PMO.

 According to soures, on December 4, heads of a number of start-ps would meet the government to discuss the recommendations of the Tarun Khanna committee. The committee, under the NITI Aayog, is headed by academician Tarun Khanna and has eminent people from India Inc as members. “Such discussions would continue till the start-up policy is unveiled as the government is still tweaking it. A host of noted industry leaders are part of formulating this important policy,” a government official said.

 Sources said that Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Snapdeal CEO Kunal Bahl, Zomato CEO Deeinder Goyal were likely to be present there at the meeting.

 In his Independence Day speech, PM had announced a campaign ‘Start-up India Stand up India’ to promote bank financing for startups and offer them incentives to boost entrepreneurship and job-creation in the country.

 Om December, PM is slated to unveil a new start-up policy for which the government is taking initiatives, with the help of inputs from head honchos such as SoftBank president Nikesh Arora, Snapdeal CEO Kunal Bahl, Oyo Rooms founder Ritesh AGarwal and former Infosys director Mohandas Pai.
