10 start-ups graduate as first batch from Nexus IncubatorThe first batch of start-ups has successfully graduated from Nexus Incubator after the completion of rigorous 10-week training from expert speakers and industry leaders from India and the United States, on July 21.

The batch comprised 10 start-ups representing varied sectors, shortlisted from over 113 applications received from all over India, who underwent featured workshops to build a potential to be able to contribute to Indian economy.

“Nexus is really about demonstrating best practices in incubating start-ups and guiding entrepreneurs towards ultimate success in the business world. We have brought the strongest players in the Indian ecosystem together to support start-ups on their road to commercialisation – companies that we hope will contribute to economic prosperity in India and the United States,” said Nexus Director Erik Azulay, who moved to Delhi from Austin, Texas to set up and run the center.

“America is known for its best practices in innovation and entrepreneurship and what better place to share that expertise than in India, which is in the midst of an explosion of entrepreneurial growth. Although India ranks 3rd in the world in number of start-ups, the innovation ecosystem in many cities, Delhi included, is very fragmented. Nexus is our way of bringing the various stakeholders together to work in a concerted way,” said US Embassy New Delhi Cultural Attache Craig Dicker, the brain behind the idea of innovation hub and incubator.

Nexus Incubator is a collaboration between the American Center and the IC² Institute of The University of Texas at Austin to showcase the best of American and Indian entrepreneurship, innovation and technology commercialisation.
