Assam government will provide micro and small industries with special benefits in state industrial policy. The government is drafting revised industrial policy.
Ravi Capoor, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce while inaugurating Udyam – 2017, a five day industrial and business trade fair asked the small industries to produce technologically and globally competent products.
He cited that the average landholding of India of 1.32 hectare vis-a-vis China of 0.6 hectare. However, China’s productivity surpasses that of India’s to a great extent. He also pointed to Germany where 88% of the country’s production comes from small and medium enterprises and supreme quality of engineering products is recognized worldwide.
Capoor acknowledged the silent revolution of small tea growers of the state whose 45% contribution in the total green leaf production has changed the scenario of the entire tea industry in the last 15 years.
P.K. Bezbaruah, Chairman, Tea Board, said that the primary market turnover of tea is Rs. 15,000 crore and small tea growers play a very pivotal role in it. He called upon the small industries to adopt best packaging practices for brining in growth in the tea market.
O.P. Mittal, National President, Laghu Udyog Bharati, informed that the organization is pursuing to bring separate labour laws for micro and small industries. Ravindra Nath, CMD, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), urged the micro and small industries to enrol in the MSME data bank to avail benefits.
Over 200 business traders from various parts of the state are participating in the five day fair showcasing their products ranging from rubber equipment, food.
