In a bid to skill industry-ready workforce and propel the growth of MSMEs through digital empowerment, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has signed three separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with SAP India, Intel and HMT on the occasion of first UN MSME Day on June 27 in New Delhi.
Under the agreement with SAP India, the Ministry has started the India ERP program. Digital MSME units will be built under this program. It is estimated that about 30,000 MSMEs and youth will be linked to digitization by this initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra said, “To encourage ERP in MSMEs, MoU has been exchanged between MSME Ministry & SAP India. The government is focusing on ease of doing business and continuously working towards the growth of entrepreneurs. The role played by MSMEs to Make in India can be assumed by its contribution in GDP, manufacturing products, exports and employment generation.”
Under the MoU signed with Intel, Skill India will be extended through Tool Rooms. Entrepreneurship skills will be promoted under the Memorandum of Understanding with HMT. For this, the Ministry will set up a Technical Training Center in association with HMT.

In order to on-board MSMEs in the digital drive, Ministry’s ambitious “Digital MSME” scheme for promotion of ICT in the sector was also launched by the Minister. Under the scheme, a proposed subsidy of up to Rs 1 lakh will be provided to micro, small and medium enterprises. The budget of this scheme is about Rs 88 crore.
The Union Minister also felicitated best-in-class MSMEs with National MSME Awards 2015 under various categories to celebrate their success, in the august presence of both MoS Giriraj Singh & Haribhai P Chaudhary, out-going Secretary K K Jalan, and Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner S N Tripathi.
