Sundaram Finance to invest in Gyan-DhanCentral Government has given nod to the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) for 12 districts in Kerala under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to give a financial boost to women entrepreneurs.

Under the programme, technical and financial support will be offered to over 2000 start-ups operating in the state. In this, the 60 per cent corpus will be provided by the central government, while remaining 40 per cent by the state government. Each block will get a project worth Rs 6.5 crore to begin start-up enterprises. The programme is to be overviewed by the Kudumbashree National Resource Organisation as the nodal agency.

The Government is looking to get the start-up culture to the small town and villages to bring self-sustainability, employment and bringing in awareness in people around technology & solutions for social well-being.

“The aim is to begin SVEPs in all blocks and to offer support for such start-up enterprises to be self-reliant,” Kudumbashree officials said.

Upon successful implementation of the programme, Kerala will emerge as the only state in the country to have introduced the SVEP project of NRLM in all its districts

Kudumbashree is the poverty eradication and women empowerment programme implemented by the State Poverty Eradication Mission (SPEM) of the Government of Kerala.
