Government has granted approval for 4 common facility centers to be at par with the current and upcoming trends in manufacturing technology under Industry 4.0, informed Heavy Industries Secretary Girish Shankar at Manufacturing Conference organised by Assocham on August 22 in New Delhi.
The government will now connect these 4 centers into a hub and call it ‘SAMARTH Udyog’ – Smart and Advanced Manufacturing and Rapid Transformation Hubs, he further announced.
The Secretary said that the purpose of these centers is to demystify what Industry 4.0 is and what are the latest technologies available in the global market.

Stressing on the importance of “smart manufacturing” for industry to survive in the new age, Shankar also urged the gathering of industry leaders at the event to take advantage of these facilities to make themselves globally competitive.
