hpHP Personal Systems business in India expects massive growth in revenues backed by small and medium businesses (SMBs) and government initiatives like Digital India, Make in India and Startup India.

Ketan Patel, Senior Director of HP Personal Systems, which focusses on PCs, laptops, tablet, accessories and other related services, said all macro indicators for India are really helping the India growth story backed by SMBs.

Besides the entire digital transformation trend and Digital India initiatives, HP India finds good opportunity as the country is breaking barriers of connectivity. Also, there is a growing young population who are tech savvy,” said Patel.

He said the company registered a y-o-y growth of 29.5 per cent in the PC market as per the latest IDC report by becoming the digital transformation partner of individual, enterprise and government. “HP has done well globally and we are now the No 1 PC vendor worldwide,” he said.

For SMBs, HP has come up with tailor-made solutions.

For example, it may be a 50 people strong company, we recommend the right kind of hardware and the right kind of infrastructure needed. We become a consultant for them,” he said.

Patel finds that unlike enterprises, SMBs often don’t have IT expertise in-house.

So we perform the end-to-end consulting for their IT needs, so they don’t need to go anywhere else. And the execution happens straight through HP or a wide range of channel partners,” adds Patel.

Commenting on the government business, he said the company is working very closely with central and state governments on Digital India, especially specific department to provide end-to-end solution for a particular workflow.

We have developed 10 workflow solutions and now we are inviting those departments and consultants who are working with those departments to see the solution. It is exhibited at our recently launched centre of excellence in New Delhi,” he said.

HP has a services and solutions business unit, which works on creating workflow solutions, and it is based in Gurugram.

With the launch of Spectre X360 and Elite 360, HP now holds 29.5 per cent market share in the premium business.

We have 36 per cent share in convertibles, which is the new form factor including 2-in-1s,” he said.
