Industries accept GST with open arms, Network registration crosses 77 lakh


MoS for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar assures internet not compulsory to run business, connectivity required only while filing returns under GST


GSTThe Government has informed that the total number of GST registration on GSTN platform has reached 77,55,416 (as on July 18, 2017). The information was provided in response to a written question in the Lok Sabha.

This information was given by the Minister of State (MoS) for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar, as part of the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

In a response to another question, he said that since the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST), no major problem has emerged from the regional offices spread all over the country.

There is still much confusion about the GST tax system. One of these is the internet for GST. Speaking on the issue, the Minister informed that there is no need for internet to run the business properly. The internet will only be required when filing returns under GST, he assured.

The Government has ensured that taxpayers do not have any inconvenience in filing returns. A Help Desk has been set up in each of the commissioners and GST facility providers have been appointed along with this.
