Fabric and fashion retailer Raymond has announced to launch the Khadi exclusive range ‘Khadi by Raymond’ on October 2, 2017 to mark Gandhi Jayanti. Forging a partnership with Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), the textile and apparel major is introducing the new range to promote Khadi in India and global markets.
“We have decided to launch the khadi range on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. We will launch it through 300 exclusive stores and about 10 KVIC stores across India. It will be introduced to international markets also in near future,” Raymond VP & Head Sales Ram Bhatnagar told PTI.
Raymond will initially work with 40 Khadi clusters across India and procure silk fabric from Murshidabad and muslin cotton from South India Khadi clusters, said officials.
As per the partnership with KVIC, Raymond has assured a minimum procurement of Khadi and its products for a period of 5 years with focus on wool blends, silk and muslin cotton. The retailer is also expected to bring in design interventions at Khadi manufacturing clusters along with technical expertise.
All the products of the range will be a 100 per cent hand-woven and handmade with premium Khadi lines including suits. Depending on the success of the range, exclusive Raymond Khadi stores may shape-up, Bhatnagar said.
