MRPL launches web portal to support promising start-ups


MRPL has taken this initiative to promote promising start-ups with financial support and nurture an eco-system conducive for innovations to be developed as business model.


Startup India Hub to pave a direct path for fund seeking start-upsMangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has launched a Startup India web portal to support promising start-ups. The portal was launched by Managing Director of the company, H Kumar, on the occassion of Independence Day in Mangaluru.

Under the portal, MRPL will support and fund projects in the energy sector that aim to pursue an innovative idea, by promoting the creation of new start-ups and leading to commercialisation and business development of early-stage start-ups.

According to the company’s release, MRPL will promote promising start-ups with financial support and nurture an ecosystem conducive for innovations, to be developed as business model.

Other focus areas that the company has taken include automation, robotics in hydrocarbon area, business process, re-engineering software, IT related and logistics related development, development of device for cracks, leak detection in pipelines, low cost model for waste to energy, manufacturing of bio fuels, low cost process for desalination of sea water, innovative waste disposal, other open areas related to petroleum refining and alternate energy etc.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) is a schedule ‘A’ Miniratna, Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. Startup India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India. The initiative aims at fostering entrepreneurship and promoting innovation by creating a healthy ecosystem for the start-ups to prosper and grow.
