The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSDE) has instituted the annual National Entrepreneurship Awards to recognise the efforts and achievements of exceptional entrepreneurs and those individuals and organisations who are working in the field of entrepreneurship development.
To encourage a culture of entrepreneurship across the country, these premier awards seek to recognise and honour entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship ecosystem builders for their outstanding efforts. The Awards also aims to highlight models of excellence for others to emulate and improve upon.
As many as 17 Awards for Young Entrepreneurs below the age of 30 years* and 6 Recognition Awards for entrepreneurship ecosystem builders will be presented. Each winner will get prize money of Rs 10 lakh (organisations) and Rs 5 lakh (enterprises/ individuals), a trophy and a certificate.
The Award categories broadly cover enterprises representing sectors like textiles, agri, chemical, pharma, IT/ITES, education, healthcare, handicrafts etc. Additionally, the awards will be presented to the best entrepreneurs in categories of Social Enterprises, Women Entrepreneur, SC/ST Entrepreneur, Entrepreneur from Persons with Disability (PwD) category, Entrepreneur from Difficult Areas, and Barefoot Enterprises.
For an enterprise/institute/organisation to participate in the 2017 edition of this annual Award, it should have been engaged in Entrepreneurship Development for at least three years prior to the date of advertisement from the current call. Also, its dependence on grant or subsidy should not be more than 25% of the working capital requirement in the year 2016-17. Only the complete applications that are submitted by the midnight on September 30, 2017 and meet all the eligibility requirements will be considered for National Entrepreneurship Awards.
